BECME Tutorial: Making a simple and classy christmas card

Hello! I am back with a card!

Christmas is round the corner, have you start making any xmas gift yet?

I decided to make a simple christmas card which many of you can create easily for your friends and family. You can always google for card sketches for some inspirations on laying out your card. For this, I was inspired from this week Mojo Monday’s inspiration #375!

Mojo Monday #375

And here’s my take for the card:

Snowflake xmas card

It is pretty easy to follow the sketch. All you need to do is to layer your pieces of paper according to the sketch.

Layering your card

For my card, I actually layer my desired patterned paper (Kraisercraft) over black cardstock. If you like to create a texture pattern like what I did, you can embossed the patterned paper using embossing plate. For my card, I used Sizzix Snowflake embossing plate to create a lovely texture. Otherwise, you can add some glitter or leave it as it is if you do not have any embossing tool. The layering will still help to give the card a more classic yet simple look 🙂

Next, you get a piece of white cardstock which is to be used for the middle of the card and cut accordingly (smaller than the patterned paper) as shown in the sketch.

Stamp your favorite sentiments

Stamp your favorite season’s greeting or you can even write yourself! For my card, I wet embossed the sentiments (Inkadinkado warm holiday wish stamp)using versamark ink and black glitter embossing powder to give the sentiments a shiny look. Distress the edges of the paper with desired colour you want using ink pad to create a soft border(I used Faded Jeans Tim Holtz Distress ink) and distress the edges to create a “torn” look. Again, it is up to you whether you prefer a clean look with no torn edges.

Now comes the final part! In the sketch, the circle indicate anything you wish to add on. It can anything ranging from your favorite Christmas embellishments which you get from value shops or craft shop, or you can simply make one of your own! I love making paper snowflakes so I decided to make my own embellishment for this card.

I used my Silhouette CAMEO to cut out the snowflake and give it some love by adding glitter to it. I love glitters so most of my cards will have glitter, and this one is no exception!

Adding glitter embossing powder

I am loving all those glitters!

I embossed my snowflake using glitter embossing powder, and it turned out looking gorgeous! If you do not have the embossing tool, grab some glitter glue, it will work pretty well too!

Use foam tape to paste the embellishment onto the center of your card. Foam tape will help to create a 3D look which make the card looks even fantastic. 😉

The final look

There you have it!

Great for making duplicates if you need to make many cards at once 🙂

Have fun! ❤

Mojo Monday #358 – It’s the life in your years that count

A new Mojo Monday sketch this week:

Mojo Monday #358

And my take for this:

Front view

The card embossed using Sizzix texture plate before layering with the strip of patterned paper (printed using Canon PIXMA printer), and then layered again with yellow paper and the birthday quote which was stamped using black chalk ink (VersaMagic). Stamp image is from Friskar, and I just love the quote! Finally, the card was embellished with dolly border which was punched using Martha Stewart dolly punch. The leaves was cut out using CAMEO, before adding paper rose. Rhinestones were added to beautify the card of course!

Close up

It is not obvious in the photo but I used Heidi Swapp Color Shine spritz (White and Gold) after adding abit of gesso to allow the shimmery mist to stay onto the rose and leaves. Glossy accent was added to the leaves to create a nice 3D effect.

I just love the color combination overall. Blue and orange always go well together 🙂

Thanks for reading! ❤

Mojo Monday 350 – Whimsy Birthday Card

Hello! It is a start of the new week and I am here with my new card for MOJO Monday challenge held last week!

Mojo Monday 350

And here is my take for the challenge:

Whimsy Birthday Card

I made this with my friend’s birthday in mind.

Card details:

This card is made using Kaisercraft Fairytale theme paper. The frame was cut out using CAMEO before embossing with black glitter embossing powder and using foam tape to create a pop look. The circle was distressed around using Colorbox Cat eye Queue blue and purple inks. Stamp quote was stamped using chalk black ink and CLOUD9 stamp. The white background was dry embossed before adding Prima Flowers, rhinestone and strip of paper which was glittered using Sticklers.

Close up look:

My apologies for such a short entry here. The reason is, it is 1 AM right now and I am supposed to be sleeping since I will be working tomorrow and I have to wake up real real early! And the reason why I can’t sleep right now?

It is because of one cup of coffee…

….And I have extremely low tolerance for caffeine.

I predicted that there will be more coffee for me tomorrow.

Mojo Monday 340 – Burst of stars to make you smile

I love stars.

Seeing stars always make me smile, especially colourful stars bursting out of nowhere.

Another Mojo Monday challenge, and this time I decided to make a card out of scraps that were left abandoned in a messy pile from past works!

I just love the outcome!

Burst of stars to make you smile 10 cm x 14.5 cm

Isn’t this card fantastic? I am so loving the colours!

Card is made from white cardstock. Distress inks were used to create the colourful background by blending the inks using a spritz of water. The white embossed paper was embossed using big plaid embossing folder (Sizzix Textured Impressions) and Big Shot machine. The word “smile” was stamped using versamagic jet black ink, and the star was stamped using distressed ink to create distressed effect of course! And finally, foam stars which I found lying around were used as embellishments before I finished up by using  Sticklers (Diamond) to create “outline” on the stars, card and the tag to create a glittered look.

This card is great for chasing away Monday’s Blues 🙂

Mojo Monday – 338 : Thanks Dad Card

Another card for Mojo Monday Challenge this week. And I really love the layout this time!

Mojo Monday 338

And here’s my card which I decide to make a Father’s Day Card :

Thanks Dad Card 10.5 cm x 14.5 cm

The card is layered with patterned paper from Cardmaking and Papercraft. It has so many adorable papers and this pattern paper is one of them! The “Thanks Dad” tag is hand cut out and layered, using brad as an embellishment. I just love layering card…it makes a nice effect, making it less plain and boring. The words “1 of a Kind” is stamped using VersaMagic Midnight Black chalk ink, and I handwritten the “You’re” on top of it. Baby Blue Stickles from Rangers is used on the pattern paper and tag to give a nice shimmering finish.

I just so love the blue tone of the card!

One of my favourite card so far 😉

Mojo Monday 337 – Garden Birthday Card

It has been a long time since I last participate in Mojo Monday. I decided to attempt the layout set by Mojo Monday this week, with bright and cheerful colors. This week Mojo Monday will be this:

Mojo Monday 337

And here’s my design for the layout:

Garden Birthday Card 10.5 cm x 14.5 cm

Garden Birthday Card

Garden Birthday Card Insert

I want to try going for a more cheerful look with many bright colours. Not my usual style, but I decided to step out of my comfort zone and start applying these colours into the card. The patterned papers were printed from Cardmaking and Papercraft, And the papers I used for this card is so pretty! I used glitter glue to give a glitter effect for the background so it looks really sweet. The blue background was dry embossed using Big Shot machine. The birthday greeting is stamped using Staz-On, the stamp is from Cloud9 Design.  After which, rhinestones were added.

I decided to stamp the insert as well, and add the “the best way to your future is to create it.” I feel that this sentiment is really a good phrase for birthday girl/boy.

That’s all, folks!
